CANDIDATE PROFILE

Statement

Patricia’s candidacy for Naperville City Council is focused on three key elements: Active solicitation of community and stakeholder input to ensure accurate representation of the community; addressing today’s concerns while planning for the future; and fiscal responsibility.  The combination of these elements leads to well informed, balanced decision making that maximizes the opportunities for success while mitigating risks.

Patricia’s background as Paralegal, including the research, planning and problem solving skills she developed leads her to approach most situations in a systematic manner that relies on the development of a well-informed and balanced perspective:

  • First, clearly identify the goal attempting to be achieved, and how you’re going to measure success.
  • Second, gather all of the relevant facts and circumstances to fully understand the issue.  This includes actively seeking out the input of the issue-specific stakeholders, as well as those potentially impacted by the decision(s) to be made.
  • Third, distill this information down to the critical elements that impact the success / potential failure in achieving the stated goal.  What are the key drivers, and to what extent can they be controlled or impacted?
  • Fourth, examine the known and potential unintended consequences of the action being contemplated, with an eye towards mitigating those risks.
  • Fifth, make a decision, communicate that decision and the rationale underlying it to those involved, and implement it.
  • And finally, monitor the outcome and adjust as necessary to maximize the potential for success.

Whether it was preparation for a trial, managing the office staff to support multiple attorneys specializing in diverse areas of the law, contributing to an organization or cause, or the management of her household, Patricia applies this approach…..
